California Day 1

We tried to leave Vegas as early as possible but 8am was the best we could do.  Vili made a good call to shower the kids before the drive because they ate breakfast and both slept for almost the entire drive.  I take that back.  Elina DID sleep for the entire drive!  (I'm having flash fowards of us trying to get Elina out of bed for school.  Lol)  Got to Carlsbad after a mini GPS attempt to take us through Africa and back.  I hate GPS!  Made it to the So'oto residence in good time and felt right at home.  Cheka, your family really is one of the best hosts ever!  I've thought it since the first time we visited for Vic's high school grad way back when and every other time after that.

We ended up cancelling our hotel and staying with the So'oto's and I'm so glad we did.  Our girls and Toya's kids, Kiana and Kingston, were immediate friends.  They played like they grew up together and there was no warming up involved.  Here's a summary of our first day of vacay: yummy Mexican for lunch, walked the Oceanside pier, went to Dana Point for Jon's fish and chips, visited Toya's new place and tried green green tea fried ice cream, then a bonfire to end the night.
